The use of robotics, in different facets of civilization, is well established in our modern world.
Facebook, it’s a brand name that is a part of the global lexicon. Many visit the site daily to check out their friends’ status and chat. The site has created a new verb “to friend,” or as the Urban Dictionary defines it, “the act of requesting someone to be your friend on Facebook.com, in which they can accept or reject you.” This unique way of growing one’s digital inner circle creates moments that can be awkward and unnerving.
Really good read from Echo Chambers. Key excerpts below:
-That briefing came in the wake of a number of other decisive moves from the White House. In the last two months Obama announced an overhaul of the country’s immigration system that extended protection to millions of illegal immigrants, signed off a law that will reduce ozone emissions by power plants and factories, and broke with 50 years of precedent by moving to normalise relations with Cuba.
-This past quarter, the US economy grew at its fasted rate in 11 years –up by 5%, an adjustment from the original estimate of 3.9%.
Here’s an excerpt from the article:
“Resolute Support will serve as the bedrock of an enduring partnership” between Nato and Afghanistan, Campbell told an audience of Afghan and international military officers and officials, as well as diplomats and journalists. He paid tribute to the international and Afghan troops who have died fighting the insurgency, saying: “The road before us remains challenging but we will triumph.”
From 1 January, the new mission will provide training and support for Afghanistan’s military, with the US accounting for almost 11,000 members of the residual force.
It’s good to see a semi-official end to the war over there. But knowing that 11,000 American soldiers will still be stationed there for the duration is unfortunate. I, and I’m sure many Americans, would love to see a total and complete end to our presence there. But just like in Iraq, sometimes the mess you make has a much longer clean-up than expected.
The question of legalizing marijuana has become one of the true hot-button topics of this generation. Could New York be the next state to battle over this topic in the political arena? Paving its way to become the Colorado of the east coast?
– Snowden told The Intercept that the latest revelations amounted to unprecedented “smoking-gun attribution for a governmental cyber attack against critical infrastructure.”
-Between 2009 and 2011, GCHQ worked with its allies to develop sophisticated new tools and technologies it could use to scan global networks for weaknesses and then penetrate them. According to top-secret GCHQ documents, the agency wanted to adopt the aggressive new methods in part to counter the use of privacy-protecting encryption—what it described as the “encryption problem.”
-The experts from Fox IT and military intelligence worked to dissect the malware on Belgacom’s systems, and were shocked by what they found. In interviews with The Intercept and its reporting partners, sources familiar with the investigation described the malware as the most advanced they had ever seen, and said that if the email exchange server had not malfunctioned in the first place, the spy bug would likely have remained inside Belgacom for several more years.
This is a short animation I made myself, in about (30 minutes) using the PowToon free animation website. A story in more detail will come in the next couple of weeks. Enjoy.
I like it. Is it perfect? No but it’s impartial and it’s an attempt at making both sides of the aisle happy. Though we know the Republicans are never happy. I like the idea of paying back taxes, though I know that won’t be possible for all immigrants that do these difficult jobs. However, it is a solid attempt at trying to make everyone happy and help out the country at the same time. You bring in some more taxes while keeping these people in the work force where they are needed.
I currently reside in the Pelham Parkway area of the Bronx. Though its has more official titles like zip-code 10469, Northeast Bronx, and the home of the 49th Precinct. I moved here from Soundview back in 2004.
